Description of Mekabu (Turnip) Tea, 60g x 2 packs

Seaweeds are known for their many health benefits, and while most tea variants that are made using seaweeds utilize the leaves, this particular tea uses what is considered the fleshy and stem part of the Undaria pinnatifida. This is a seaweed that is indigenous to both Japan and Korea, and the leaves of this seaweed is called wakame. Also known as Asian kelp tea, this particular beverage features the stems and thick parts of the leaves of this sea plant, and while often eaten as a vegetable or side dish in Japan, it is used as the main component of this tea. This particular tea comes with a lot of dietary fibers, which is essential to good digestive health. It also has a lot of minerals that aid in good health. Much like any tea made out of seaweed, the mekabu tea also comes with high levels of iodine, manganese, magnesium, and potassium. It is also a good source of calcium and iron, which is also essential for good health. This tea comes with a somewhat briny taste, reminiscent of the sea itself where the mekabu came from. The mekabu tea can be consumed as a beverage but is also umami enough to be used in dishes to help enhance flavor. This tea can be used in soups and stews to give it the unique flavor that can only come from seaweeds. All you need to do in order to use this for your dishes or for your tea is to rehydrate and steep it in hot water for a few minutes. For tea, after steeping, strain the rehydrated mekabu tea pieces before drinking. You can also consume the rehydrated leaves and stems of the Asian kelp tea as a nutritious snack or add it to your dishes for that taste of the ocean that only comes from seaweed like mekabu and wakame.
